Adventure Day!
First it started with adventures in cleaning and organizing my apartment, which has fallen to shit this semester because I haven't had time to keep up with the little housework I used to. The roommate doesn't care if he lives in squalor, so he's not the best at the housework if I'm not around to tell him what to do. Things were growing in my kitchen. These things were not nice. They'd taken over the counters and the stovetop, all the pots... it took a while, but all the dishes got done, allt he compost and garbage got organized, and then I started on the livingroom.

The livingroom was in chaos because besides being busy, I'd also had to lug home all my crap from school. It was all in a big pile around my favourite chair, and also around my loom. So, I rearanged, threw a lot of stuff out, made new piles, reclaimed the cedar-lined trunk for the woven woolens, etc. I need to get some new bolts for hte beater on the loom--they're so rusted I don't want ot use them. Also, I think their bolts are missing, and I need some other bits. Soon it will be up and running though. While moving my plants, I discovered that my snake plant had a big flower stalk all dripping with sticky nectar. I've had it for over ten years, and this is the first time I've seen it bloom! Amazing. Amazing but messy. Woo.

The last adventure is best, however. Britt spontaneously decided to come up to the city and we went out for sushi. This was of the good. We ended up at Hamachi House, and we gorged and had a good catch-up chat. Then she drove me to the bathhouse committee meeting with the promise that it would end before Penningtons closed and we would go shopping. And it did. We got two blocks from the meeting host's house, just getting through a big intersection, when the car ran out of gas. RAN OUT OF GAS. Before today I had never been in a car that had run out of gas. I couldn't believe it!

And I of course didn't follow my mother's wise advice--I wasn't wearing a jacket, and it was getting cold as the sun was going down. Britt gave me her jacket to wear while we walked to the nearest gas station, the Irving on Robie, from where we had stalled out and I'd PUSHED her car to the side of the road. So diagonally across the Commons we go, and two blocks up RObie to the station. However, you'll never guess what happened just as we'd started to walk...

We were ATTACKED by dog! This black and white dog came running up out of nowhere, growling and barking and baring its teeth, its owner calling for it futiley from far up the path. Luckily it pays attention for a brief moment and runs back to her, but then it circles back and comes at us again. Then it runs back to its owner and I yell that a fucken leash usually works a lot better. Jesus fuck me in eye the Christ. Dogs are supposed to be on leashes for a reason. All dogs will bite if provoked enough, and this was obviously not the first time this particular dog had run at people like that. I hate irresponsible dog owners. Argh.

Anyway, we made it to the gas station, and Britt decides that we're taking a cab back. $5 worth of gas and a $5 deposit for the can, the cab arrives and off we go. And then I remember that Britt had paid for sushi with interac, and only had a fifty dollar bill in her purse at this point. I just KNEW that she'd try to pay for the cab with it, and sure enough, she did. The fare was $4.90,and she pulls out this $50 bill! Luckily I had a $5 in my purse, and I gave that to the cabbie instead. We got the gas in the car, went back to the station and I returned the gas can and got my $5 back while she put gas in the car. 55 litres. Life with Britt is never boring.

Heh.

POint and laugh over here! Love ya Britt!
