Solstice Thoughts
Yesterday was a gorgeous day, a beautiful day for the first day of summer. I find myself missing more and more working regularly in a coven, and more consciously acknowledging the turning of the seasons. I think it may be time for me to get back into regular witch practise. *smile*

One of the things I miss most is the songs and the chants, actually. The other night I was looking for the words to Spring Strathspey by Gwydion, and I stumbled across archives of a bunch of songs I use to listen to and sing when I was in my first coven not long after I moved here. I tried to track down and download some of it, but it's pretty obscure. I was surprised by how much I remembered, however, and I spent a happy evening in front of my computer singing to myself.

See, I'm of a mind to put out a small CD with the help of some friends with recording equipment and better guitar skills. I sang a set on stage six weeks ago, and it was fun though my guitar-playing was deplorable and I was terribly nervous. And people wanted to hear more! And I think it will be fun. Hard work, but fun. Here's a tentative song list:

Four Marys - trad.
Annachie Gordon - trad.
She Moved Through the Fair - trad.
Spring Strathspey - Gwydion
Heretic Heart - Catherine Madsen (Holly Tannen version)
Angel From Montgomery - John Prine
Streets of London - Ralph McTell
The Parting Glass - trad.
Captain Jack and the Mermaid - Meg Davis
Tam Lin - Holly Tannen

Poo, I had a few others in mind, but I've misplaced the list I started. I'm sure it will turn up, and then I'll add to it.
